When Meylor turned sixteen the reality of her position in society was brought home when she had to be branded. However, because she was born to a Lord, it was a far more intricate of a design and a far more painful procedure. The design is circular in nature and is the Blackheart family crest. The crest was carved deeply into her left hip with chunks of flesh being removed and a metal called thes’mirn poured in. Because of the high melting temperature of the metal the procedure was EXTREMELY painful. While the brand was being put into place, her father was in the room, holding his daughter and crying just as much as she was.
