Dorian Ashev

His breath tickled her shoulder, his hair brushed her ear, "And I want no part of forcing you to go, or stay, anywhere you do not want to be."

Those words were what sealed her fate, though Shadow probably wouldn’t admit to it even if her life depended on it. Too much hurt, too much pain can make a heart cold, but Dorian always knew the right button too push. The Black Lieutenant challenged her and rekindled the flames of her soul when they threatened to die.

The first time they met was during Laer Drae Sa’Dar when she went to help An’Thaya and Callan. Their meeting was a clash that resulted in her promising Callan that she would not kill him or his brother. But that meeting sowed the seeds that would tie them together.

The next time they met was in the Sword and Anchor Tavern in which a brawl had occurred. The two ended up facing off, Dorian came a little too close for comfort and Shadow’s hand slipped into the shadows and closed around his heart in an attempt to get him to back off, and despite it, she carries a scar where he stabbed her.

Time passed and her husband, one of her children and friends died at the hands of a Human raid. That fateful night set her free in a way that she hadn’t been in years. But while there were others that played an important role in her survival after her husband’s death, Dorian was the one that she remembered challenging her to the point that made her blood boil.

For three years they tried to figure out how everything fit, each knowing what they wanted but wary of the path that lead them there. His eyes haunted her whether awake or asleep and she held his heart in her hands, but there are times that the path that you want to find never reveals itself...such is the case for Dorian and Shadow. Despite the feelings there, they could not truly see each other and the two grew apart and when the missing piece of Shadow's puzzle showed up on Dorian's doorstep, he stepped aside.

Dorian and Shadow remain good friends and seem more at ease with each other with the change in their relationship. But for Shadow Dorian will always be her Radyth, a love that couldn't be.

Epiphany by Staind

Your words to me just a whisper
Your face is so unclear
I try to pay attention
Your words just disappear

'Cause it's always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said

So I speak to you in riddles
'Cause my words get in my way.
I smoke the whole thing to my head
& Feel it wash away
'Cause I can't take anymore of this
I wanna come apart, or dig myself a little hole
inside your precious heart

'Cause it's always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said

I am nothing more than
A little boy inside
That cries out for attention, yet I always try to hide
'Cause I talk to you like children, but I don't know how I feel
But I know I'll do the right thing
If the right thing is revealed

'Cause it's always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said
