Xavyer Sh'Alon
Captain Xavyer Sh’Alon was Shadow’s Stepfather’s best friend and was her Escort for many years; a dangerous job considering how spirited Shadow was as a child. As Shadow grew older, the two fought constantly Xavyer was constantly with her when she was in Sha’dar and when she had to return home from Draelond, it was Xavyer who took her home. But with the death of her parents that all stopped and Shadow disappeared.
It was many years before they ran across each other, and Xavyer’s interest in how Shadow had changed was obvious. They stayed together for twenty years, their love for each other obvious, most of that time was spent on the ship that Xavyer had given Shadow as an anniversary present.
The reappearance of Kurr in Shadow’s life was a concern, one that Xavyer noticed, but Shadow would not leave his side. Knowing that she was going to eventually drive both of them crazy and that he couldn’t hold on to her forever, Xavyer started a fight. The end result was a break up that tore both of them apart and the couple didn’t speak again for many years.
Now, however, the two have built a binding friendship and Xavyer has once again taken up his role of Escort when Shadow goes to Sha’dar. It is possible that they have become best friends, understanding each other like few others can.
