An'Thaya D'Riel Blackthorn is Shadow's Ad'Vere, the Amazon equivilant of a sister. The two had a fast friendship that shows no sign of stopping. Aya is one of the few that has seen Shadow's soul nor is she ashamed of it. They are bound through the Web and the Tapestry. An'Thaya and her husband, Callan, also welcomed Shadow's daughter Robin with welcome arms and now raise her as their own.

Aydra Centari is the oldest friend that Shadow has, their friendship going back to when they were five years old. Growing up they were constantly into mischief, and when they get together now, that actually hasn't changed.

B'Elya D'Riel Silverleaf is Shadow's sister-in-law and the younger sister of An'Thaya and Y'Roden. Shadow assisted in bringing Belle out of Tenobrous.

Callan Blackthorn is the husband of her Ad'Vere. The two have an ongoing bickering about what should and should not be put into The Silver Dryad, but the bickering never seems to end there, however it is all in good fun. Callan and An'Thaya also welcomed Shadow's daughter Robin with welcome arms and now raise her as their own.

Chezlar Khor is an eight foot changling that has popped up through history since Shadow became assosiated with the D'Riels. She views him as a friend despite the annoyance she finds in his criptic words when he's fulfilling his role as Messenger to the Fates.

The first time Dorian and Shadow met, she wanted to kill him, later they kept trying to stab each other, and finally became lovers. Dorian holds a special place in Shadow's heart and she cherishes him, enjoying his company, his humour, and for never pulling his punches with her, both figuratively and literally.

Galain has played many roles in Shadow's life, friend, uncle, father, enemy, and friend again. It has been many years since she has seen the Elen. She feels guilty for feeling that, in the end, he has gotten what he deserves, however she knows she can trust him and he her.

Ghetsuhm Riker D'Riel was the first human that Shadow trusted on sight. Through the years they have had a strained friendship, and in the worse bits Shadow simply avoided her, and when they were around each other she simply forgot that she was upset with her. Ghetsuhm is Y'Roden's wife and their mutual affection for him put their friendship back on the right path where the forest elf hopes it will stay.

Silverthorn is one woman that Shadow can speak freely with and trusts her life with. They didn't 'truely' become friends until after Silverthorn married Y'Roden, and when the two divorced, Shadow didn't see any sense in never speaking to the woman again...and at the time they were still linked by their lovers being brothers. While that is no longer the case, Shadow will not turn her back on Silverthorn, knowing friends like her are hard to find.

Suriel started out as Shadow's guardian, forbidden to allow her to see him. One night he simply through the rules aside and helped her out when the odds were against her in a bar brawl and eventually married. It became a private joke between them of Suriel always saving Shadow when she felt she could handle things. It was one of these times that Shadow realized she couldn't and called for him after they had divorced ending in Suriel being killed. Shadow blamed herself, and never told anyone that the same day she had been kidnapped was the day she had decided to try to repair their relationship. Under circumstances that no one yet understands, Suriel was brought back to life which gave the couple the chance to work out the problems that had plagued them while married while knowing they could never be together again. They share three children.

Turq and Shadow met during the story Kusanar Tanaii. Both raised and experiencing the hatred of their races for one another, a slow friendship developed between them. Turq saw an event in Shadow's life that she's ashamed of and assisted in getting her back from the clutches of Blagden Llewellyn. There is a basic trust between them that neither had to work at, they simply know that the other will watch their back, while at the same time embarrassing the hell out of one another. The two seem destined to end up in the water together.

Y'Roden is Shadow's adopted father. The two met not too long after he left the Crystal Keep though neither remember exactly when. Their lives have seemed to mirror in places and the many similarities between Ro and Shady and they find it easy to relate to one another. Ro is and always has been Shadow's favorite drinking buddy and they can often be found goofing off together. Ro has seen the darker side of Shadow's life and has never judged her for it, and vice versa. They began as Uncle and Niece, but after some time Y'Roden officially adopted her. The two also shared a Parental Bond that ties Shadow to the D'Riel Web and Y'Roden to the Silverleaf Tapestry. The bond is reflected in a blank panther lounging on a sword that marks their right collar bones.
