Markings
On Shadow’s right shoulder blade is a birthmark the colour of dried blood and in the shape of a rune. This rune usually changes its design when she learns a new skill, becoming more complex. The picture to the left is the most recent design.
Shadow has a criss crossing of lash marks on her back from various dark times in her life, while some are deeper than others, most do not show up unless her skin is wet. The first and third sets were given to her by Blagden Llewellyn, the first when he held her captive for thirty-six years, and the other set when she fell back into his hands.
The second set was from a man by the name of Craiger Vladislav who Shadow had been paid to kill, and eventually did. The beatings and torture that came from his hand took her roughly six months of physical recovery; there are still times that mental recovery is still an on going process.
A purple flame is burned onto her upper right thigh. The mark is the result of Shadow being captured in her youth by a human male who she thought and was raised to believe was her grandfather. When not being beaten, or raped, Shadow was forced to stand in the center of a ring of purple flame that left her soul scarred, believingly unrepairable.
A scar marks her upper right arm in a rough open half circle. Shadow is uncertain where she recieved this, but on closer inspection it has been found that it originally comes from Argent who was branded as a child. The burn ran so deep within his skin that it carried over to Shadow.
On her right leg, there is a tattoo of a single long stemmed rose bud in the colours of a sunset that winds around her ankle. The only mark she has left from a past half-drow lover.

On the left side of Shadow's throat, just above the vein and close to her jaw, is a silver scar. The scar is the result of a nick from a dagger that was wielded by Railen Rossëvirin durring a time that he was mentally weak. While Railen tried to convice Galain Alcarin and she that he would kill her, Shadow knew differently. Because Railen had told her once before that he could never hurt her, even if he wanted to.
Above her chest is a ragged silver scar that looks roughly like a rip or lightening bolt. It is a combination of Railen Rossëvirin piercing her heart with a dagger, but the wound was actually unable to kill her. At that time, her spirit was residing in Suriel Aerta, her Guardian and former husband, who, at the same time, had his heart ripped out by one of his brothers. Shadow and Suriel were still bonded at the time, and because of the double wounding, it left the scar.
>A black panther with a sword is on her right collarbone. It is a soul blood mark to Y’Roden D’Riel as well as a parental bond between them. Giving them a cross reference on the D’Riel Web and knotting Y’Roden to the Silverleaf Tapestry as well.
